I'm trying to decide between getting a 9800X3D with a motherboard and RAM for about $200 more than the 265KF setup, which also comes with a motherboard and RAM. Both options have 32GB of RAM at 6000MT/s with CL30 timings. My primary uses are light video editing and browsing with lots of Chrome tabs, along with some occasional 1080p gaming. Will I really notice a performance drop with the 265KF for video editing, or will the 9800X3D provide significant benefits, especially considering my current PC is struggling with a 3600X and 16GB RAM? I'm also contemplating just returning everything and saving the cash since I'm headed on a trip next week.

You might consider waiting for the 5800X3D to be re-released. It’ll give you a solid performance upgrade from your current 3600X, and it’s likely to be your best bang for the buck. If you can hold off, the next-gen parts coming out early next year will provide an even better boost for productivity and gaming.
What’s set to release next year that will be worth waiting for?
Honestly, for your use case, the 265KF might be the better choice. The iGPU has Quicksync, which really helps with video editing. On the flip side, even though the 9800X3D does well in gaming, it's pretty expensive for just video work. Plus, I've heard sketchy things about the reliability of X3D chips lately.

Sounds like returning your current setup may be wise. I'm also worried about RAM prices. They've dropped lately, but there's chatter about potential increases again.
