Why Can’t I Open This Software After My Hard Drive Replacement?

I need to install a software that allows me to print receipts. I've used the same software in the past without issues, so I don't think it's a virus or anything harmful. After my hard drive was damaged and replaced, I reconnected my receipt printer and tried to install the software again. However, I keep getting a message from Windows stating: 'This app has been blocked for your safety. You are not allowed to run this app by the administrator. Consult the administrator for more information.' Even when I attempt to run it as an administrator, I get the same notification. Is there any workaround to open this file?

Is this a work computer? If so, you might want to reach out to whoever replaced your drive; they might not have granted you admin rights when setting things up. You would need an admin password to get those privileges. Just a heads-up, if it's a work PC, you might actually not be supposed to have admin access in general.

Double check that you’re not using a cracked version of Windows or some kind of system optimizer that might have messed things up. That could also be part of why you're facing restrictions.

Looks like you might be dealing with a restricted user account. It probably doesn’t have permission to install software. You should ask the person who manages the admin account to allow the installation for you.

Have you tried right-clicking on the installer and checking the properties? Look for an 'unblock' checkbox at the bottom right. If you see it, tick that box and see if it lets you run the installer after that.
