I'm deciding between two NVMe drives for a fresh operating system install. One option is the WD Black SN750 with 1TB capacity, which seems to be an older model but of higher quality. The other is the Kingston OM8PGP41024Q-AA, which is newer and more affordable. I've seen mixed reviews online regarding their performance, so I'm looking for some advice on which to pick.

The WD Black SN750 is a Gen 3 PCIe drive that maxes out at around 3500 MB/s, while the Kingston OM8PGP41024Q-AA is a Gen 4 PCIe drive with a max speed of about 4,417 MB/s. The Gen 4 should give you better performance and lower latency, so I’d lean that way if speed is a priority.
If you're looking at just these two drives, I'd recommend going with the WD Black SN750. I know it can be pricier, but Kingston’s entry-level drives are often QLC, which is less reliable and slower.
I haven’t used too many Kingston drives beyond their flash storage, but I have had great experiences with WD. I’ve been using their Blue series NVMe drives without any issues for years now.
According to Passmark, Kingston's model is about 50% faster, which sounds impressive! But I've seen Userbenchmark showing different results, so it’s a bit confusing.
Yeah, that’s part of why I’m second-guessing my choice!

I actually have both drives! I'm piecing together two computers, hence my dilemma.
