I currently have an i7 12th generation CPU paired with a GTX 1070 and I'm considering an upgrade for my GPU. It's not an immediate necessity; more of a desire to improve my gaming experience. I've found a few options in my price range:
- 3070 Ti EVGA FTW3 for $285
- 3080 MSI Gaming X Trio for $342
- 3080 Ti Gainward Phantom for $420
Since I also plan on upgrading my PSU to an 850W Gold DeepCool, I'm interested in which of these GPUs offers the best price-to-performance ratio. I'm still gaming on a 1080p 200Hz monitor but I want to future-proof myself for 1440p gaming as well. Are there any other GPUs I should consider that might offer better value? Also, ideally, I'm looking to spend under $550 and want a card with good resale value for when the next generation comes out!

Both the 3080 and 3080 Ti would be excellent choices for your situation. They come with enough VRAM to handle modern games and DLSS, ensuring longevity. Either option will give you a significant performance boost over the GTX 1070, especially when you move to 1440p gaming in the future.

For a card that’s meant to last, do you think the 3080 or 3080 Ti will still hold up well in terms of performance and cooling over the next few years?
