How Can I Change My Default User Folder Back to C: Drive?

A few years ago, my dad changed the settings on my computer so that my Users folder and all its subfolders defaulted to the D: drive instead of the C: drive. Recently, I upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11, and the default location remains on D:. I attempted to restore the default folder location through the Properties > Location settings, but it just points back to D:Usersme. I don't feel comfortable manually changing it since the default still shows D:. I have wiped my entire PC and installed Windows 11 without restoring any backups, yet my Users folder is still stuck on D:. Additionally, I've been experiencing some issues with the D: drive that make me believe it might be failing, and since I don't really need it anymore, I'd like to remove it. Any suggestions?

Using the cloud reset option doesn't perform a full reinstall. For a proper reinstall, use a USB stick to wipe the entire system, which could help solve your user folder issue. This should reset everything back to defaults. For sure, if you do that, it will eliminate the problem you're facing with the Users folder defaulting to D:.

First, make sure to back up all your important files to an external drive. This is super important before messing with your drives. Once you've done that, check if your D: drive is on the same physical disk as your C: drive. If they are on separate drives, you should disconnect any non-essential drives before reinstalling Windows 11 with a USB. Only the drive you're installing to should be connected. After confirming your backup is safe, you might need to format the D: drive to clear it up, but make sure you've saved everything you need beforehand!
