I have a personal HP ProDesk running Windows 10. While setting up BitLocker, Windows asked me to remove external drives and other devices before rebooting so it could encrypt the operating-system drive. After removing the drives and rebooting, the computer now gives one beep but shows no image at all. I also disconnected the power cable and tried a full power cycle. There is an additional internal drive that I left installed, so I'm unsure whether that could be causing the problem. What should I check to get the display back and complete the BitLocker setup?

Double-check that the operating-system drive and any cables were fully reseated after being removed. A single beep can indicate that the system passed a basic hardware check, but a loose drive, memory module, or display connection can still prevent a normal startup. Disconnect nonessential external devices and test with only the keyboard, monitor, and boot drive connected.
Since this is a personal computer, try a complete power drain: shut it down, unplug it, hold the power button for about 15–30 seconds, then reconnect power and start it again. If there is still no video, use the HP startup diagnostics or clear/reset the BIOS settings if you’re comfortable doing so. BitLocker itself normally shouldn’t make the machine permanently lose its display, so the timing may point to a connection or graphics issue rather than the encryption process.
If the computer has a dedicated graphics card, try moving the monitor cable to the motherboard’s onboard video output. The BitLocker pre-boot screen may be appearing through a different display path, or the graphics card may not be showing the early startup screen. Also make sure the monitor is set to the correct input.
