My iPhone suddenly started having trouble charging yesterday. At first, my usual charger wouldn't work in one outlet but did work in another. Now I'm staying somewhere else, and the phone won't charge properly from that outlet or from a power bank—it has stayed at 1% even while plugged in. The battery percentage isn't dropping, but it isn't increasing either. My battery health also fell from 83% to 81% over the past week. I usually charge it before it reaches 20% and stop around 80%. Could the cable or charger be failing, or does this mean there's a problem with the phone or battery?

The charging port or battery could also be involved. Try a known-good charger and gently check the port for lint or debris. If wired charging still fails, testing with a wireless charger can help narrow it down. If the phone won’t charge with reliable accessories, have the port and battery inspected.
Try a different charging cable first, preferably one you know works with another phone. A damaged or worn cable can make the phone show that it’s charging without actually adding power.
That worked—thankfully, I don’t need to replace my phone after all.
My friend’s Lightning charger worked, so it looks like I just need to replace my charger.
