I'm building my first gaming PC with a total budget of about $800–$900. I found a Micro Center bundle with a Ryzen 5 7500X3D, an ASRock B850M-C AM5 motherboard, and 16GB of DDR5 memory. For the graphics card, I'm choosing between a used RTX 3080 10GB and a used RX 9060 XT. Which would be the better choice for 1440p gaming, and are there any performance bottlenecks or parts I should change?

The CPU, motherboard, and memory combination should be a strong foundation, and there shouldn’t be a serious CPU bottleneck at 1440p. However, 16GB of system RAM is becoming a little limiting, so moving to 32GB would be worthwhile if your budget allows. For the GPU, compare actual performance in the games you play: the 3080 has stronger raw performance in some cases, while the 16GB 9060 XT offers more VRAM and a newer platform. Either can work, but don’t buy the 3080 expecting maximum textures and ray tracing in every future game.
The RTX 3080 still handles 1440p well, especially if you’re willing to avoid ray tracing and lower a few demanding settings. Its main weaknesses are the 10GB VRAM limit and the fact that a used mining-era card may have no warranty or unknown wear. Check its condition and make sure your power supply is high quality and powerful enough.
So if I find a reasonably priced used 16GB 9060 XT, would that be the safer pick? I mostly want consistent 60+ FPS at 1440p rather than maximum settings.
