I'm considering upgrading from an RX 6600 XT to an RX 9060 XT, but I'm unsure whether the 8GB model is worth saving around $100 on compared with the 16GB version. I'd also like to know whether my 550W power supply can handle the upgrade or if I should replace it.

The 16GB model is the better choice if you can afford it. Newer games are increasingly using more than 8GB of VRAM, especially at higher resolutions and texture settings, so the extra memory should help the card stay useful longer. A 550W power supply should generally be enough, assuming it’s a decent-quality unit and the rest of your system isn’t unusually power-hungry.
I’d go with the cheapest reputable 16GB model rather than paying extra for a particular brand. The 8GB version can still work for esports games or if you’re comfortable lowering textures and other settings, but demanding newer games may run into VRAM limits and suffer stuttering or major performance drops. The 16GB card gives you more room for modern AAA games and 1440p gaming.
You probably don’t need to upgrade the power supply. The recommended system power is around 450W, so 550W should be fine as long as the PSU is in good condition and has the required connector. Check the exact model’s specifications and consider replacing it only if your current unit is old, low-quality, or paired with a particularly power-hungry CPU.

Is the extra VRAM mainly about future-proofing, or does it provide a noticeable performance boost right now? I’m not very familiar with how VRAM affects gaming.
