Is anyone else seeing problems with Dell Command Update 5.7? We use it across a fleet of roughly 800 Dell computers, and today it has been hanging on "determining updates" or downloading at around 50 KB/s on multiple machines and in different buildings. Other network activity appears normal, so I'm trying to determine whether this is a Dell service issue, a software dependency problem, or something in our environment. Has anyone found a workaround or noticed similar behavior?

I haven’t seen Command Update fail consistently on 5.7, although download speeds can occasionally be terrible. It may be an issue with Dell’s update servers or a particular update, especially if the slowdown is limited to the download stage rather than the update scan.
There are also known problems with newer releases during operating-system deployment and when Command Update is launched through Task Scheduler without an interactive user logged in. In those cases it may fail even when the application works normally for a logged-in user. Updating to a later maintenance release may help when one becomes available.
Be careful with the newer automatic-update behavior. Some systems have installed motherboard firmware updates without an obvious prompt and then disrupted users’ connections when a reboot was required. Check the update policy and disable automatic firmware installation if you need tighter control.
Version 5.4 has been more reliable for us than 5.7, so rolling back or holding the older version may be worth testing while you investigate. Some people also manage the version and update settings through scripts or administrative templates rather than letting the application change defaults.
Check that the .NET 8.x x64 Desktop Runtime is installed, along with Dell Core Services. The Dell Client Management Services service should also be present and running. Missing or stopped components can prevent Command Update from working correctly.
We already have .NET 8 installed, but I’ll verify Dell Core Services and the client management service on the affected systems.
