I'm planning a gaming and productivity PC in France with a budget of about €1,500. My current options are a Ryzen 5 9600X paired with an RTX 5070, or spending roughly €200 more for a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB.
I'll mainly use the system for gaming, but I also want it to handle streaming, video editing, multitasking, and everyday productivity comfortably. Would the more expensive CPU and GPU provide a noticeable improvement in current games and help the system age better over the next two or three years, or would the cheaper setup be sufficient?
The rest of the proposed build includes a Gigabyte B650 Eagle motherboard, 16 GB of DDR5-5600 CL40 memory, a 1 TB PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD, a Thermalright Assassin X 120 cooler, a DeepCool CG530 4F case, and an 850 W MSI MAG A850GL power supply. I'd also appreciate advice about compatibility, weak points, and better value alternatives.

The extra €200 is reasonable if gaming performance and longevity are your priorities. The RX 9070 XT is substantially faster than the RTX 5070 in traditional rasterized gaming and its 16 GB of VRAM should be more comfortable for future titles. The 7800X3D is also an excellent gaming CPU, although the difference will depend heavily on your resolution and frame-rate target.
For streaming and video editing, the extra CPU cores can help, but the GPU and software you use matter too. I would definitely choose the stronger graphics card if the budget allows.
The 9600X and RTX 5070 combination is already well balanced and should handle current gaming very well. If you play at 1440p or higher, the GPU upgrade will matter much more than the CPU upgrade. The 9070 XT is the meaningful part of the more expensive option; the 7800X3D is mainly worthwhile if you want very high refresh rates or play CPU-heavy games.
Also remember that the 7800X3D is an older-generation AM5 processor. It is still fast, but compare its price with newer X3D chips before buying.
Before upgrading the CPU, fix the memory configuration. 16 GB is becoming restrictive, especially for video editing, streaming, and multitasking. Go with 32 GB as 2×16 GB, ideally DDR5-6000 around CL30 or CL32. That will be a more noticeable improvement than moving from one already-capable gaming CPU to another in many situations.
The motherboard and power supply should be suitable, and 850 W gives you plenty of headroom. The inexpensive Gen3 SSD will work, but a decent PCIe 4.0 drive may offer better sustained performance and value if the price difference is small. The biggest weakness in the listed build is definitely the 16 GB of RAM, so I would not sacrifice 32 GB just to reach a higher CPU tier.
