I currently have 32GB of DDR5 memory and am considering buying another 32GB kit to get ahead of possible price increases. I'm not sure whether it's smarter to upgrade now or wait a year or two in case prices fall again. My main concern is future-proofing, but I also don't want to spend money on RAM I won't actually need. Is 32GB likely to remain sufficient for gaming and general use for the next few years?

Be careful about simply adding another 2x16GB kit. Four DDR5 sticks can be harder for the memory controller to run reliably, and you may need to lower the speed or loosen the timings. If you eventually need 64GB, a matched 2x32GB kit is generally the better setup, though selling your current kit adds cost and hassle.
For gaming, 32GB is likely to last longer than DDR5 remains the current mainstream memory standard. A few unusually demanding games or professional workloads can use more, but unless you’re seeing high memory utilization during your normal tasks, save the money for a future platform or upgrade.
Nobody can reliably predict where memory prices will go. If you genuinely need 64GB soon, buying now may make sense; otherwise, waiting is the safer choice. Used memory or a future upgrade will still be options if your needs change.
If you’re not regularly getting close to using all 32GB, there’s little reason to upgrade. For gaming and most everyday tasks, 32GB should remain adequate for quite a while. Buy more when your actual workload starts running out of memory rather than upgrading purely because of fear of future prices.
