I'm using a Windows 11 Home PC to connect to another computer with Remote Desktop. I may have left the previous session active by closing the Remote Desktop window with the X instead of signing out, and now I'm getting a message that all available connections are being used. How can I end the old session or reconnect?

Windows 11 Home can connect to another computer through Remote Desktop, but it cannot host incoming Remote Desktop sessions itself. The connection limit is therefore probably on the remote computer. Closing the Remote Desktop window can disconnect the display while leaving your Windows session logged in. If possible, connect again and choose Sign out from the remote computer’s Start menu instead of just closing the window. If you can’t reconnect, someone with administrative access to the remote computer will need to log off the stuck session or restart the Remote Desktop service/computer.
