I recently assembled a used PC with a Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming motherboard, an NVIDIA RTX 3070, and a Ryzen 5 1600X. Everything worked normally, including Windows and driver updates. I then updated the BIOS from version F3 to F31. The update appeared to finish successfully, but after restarting, the computer stopped at the Aorus logo screen and the motherboard's CPU diagnostic light remained solid red. I also can't enter the BIOS, and removing the CMOS battery for more than 10 minutes didn't restore the system. Is there a way to recover the motherboard, and did updating directly to F31 cause the problem?

This board may require BIOS updates in stages rather than jumping directly from F3 to F31. Check the motherboard’s BIOS support notes for any required intermediate versions, and make sure the AMD chipset driver was installed before updating. If the board supports BIOS Flashback or Q-Flash recovery, you may be able to reinstall the correct BIOS version using that process.
A failed or incompatible BIOS update can leave the board unable to POST, which would explain the solid CPU indicator and the inability to reach setup. Clearing CMOS usually won’t repair corrupted firmware. Look for the board’s official BIOS recovery or flashback procedure and verify that the BIOS file matches the exact motherboard revision. If recovery isn’t available or fails, the board may need professional firmware reprogramming or replacement.
I did install the chipset drivers beforehand, but I didn’t realize the BIOS might need to be updated incrementally. I’ll check the required version order and try the recovery instructions.
