I'm choosing between two Mini-LED gaming monitors. The 4K model costs about 22,000 pesos, while the 1440p model is around 19,000 pesos—a difference of roughly $50–$60. I have an RX 9070 XT and mainly care about gaming. Would it make sense to buy the 4K monitor and use 1440p when I want higher performance, then switch to 4K for games where image quality matters? I've heard that running 1440p on a 4K display can look blurry. The 1440p monitor runs at 180Hz, while the 4K model supports 160Hz at 4K and 320Hz at 1080p. I'm also not interested in OLED because of burn-in concerns.

The key trade-off is image clarity versus frame rate. A 1440p display has about 3.7 million pixels, while 4K has roughly 8.3 million, so 4K places substantially more demand on the GPU. The RX 9070 XT can play at 4K, but you’ll often need upscaling or reduced settings in newer titles to maintain high refresh rates. Since you’re avoiding OLED, Mini-LED is a reasonable choice for strong brightness and contrast without the same burn-in concern.
The 4K model is probably the better buy if you’re comfortable using upscaling. Your graphics card can handle 4K, especially with FSR, which renders the game at a lower internal resolution and reconstructs it at 4K. Just be aware that setting the entire desktop to 1440p on a 4K panel may look softer because 1440p does not scale evenly into 4K. For gaming, using FSR or another in-game resolution scale usually looks better than changing the monitor’s native resolution.
FSR is AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution. It lets a game render fewer pixels to improve performance, then reconstructs the image at a higher output resolution. It’s useful for 4K gaming when native 4K is too demanding.
At this price gap, I’d lean toward the 4K Mini-LED model if it’s a good-quality panel. You can run games at 4K when you want maximum sharpness and use an in-game 1440p render resolution or upscaling when you need more performance. The 4K display also gives you more flexibility for movies and general desktop use. Just don’t expect ordinary 1440p output to look exactly as sharp as native 1440p on a 4K screen.

It should be perfectly playable, especially with good upscaling, but native 1440p on a 1440p panel will look cleaner. If you choose the 4K model, use the game’s scaler or FSR rather than simply forcing the monitor to display 1440p.
The 1440p monitor is the safer choice if you prioritize consistently high frame rates. A 9070 XT is powerful, but 4K renders more than twice as many pixels as 1440p, so demanding games will generally run at noticeably lower FPS. At 1440p, you’ll have an easier time taking advantage of the 180Hz refresh rate without relying as much on upscaling.
The price difference is small enough that I’m tempted by the 4K model, though.
