I'm installing an XFX Mercury 9070 XT, which has three 8-pin PCIe power connections. My ASRock SL1200P power supply has two 12V-2x6 GPU cables and only two corresponding ports, so I'm unsure which cables to use. Can I connect the card with two 12V-2x6 cables plus one standard PCIe 8-pin cable, or do all three connections need to be 8-pin PCIe cables? Does the connection order matter?

That Mercury model uses the older 8-pin PCIe connectors rather than three 12V-2x6 inputs. The SL1200P should have several modular PCIe sockets, so use three proper PCIe 8-pin cables—one for each GPU connector. Two 12V-2x6 cables plus a regular PCIe cable should only be used if the PSU’s documentation explicitly confirms that cable combination and connector compatibility.
Use three dedicated GPU power cables if possible: connect all three of the card’s 8-pin PCIe sockets directly to separate PCIe cables from the power supply. Don’t use the CPU/EPS cable, and avoid relying on one cable’s daisy-chained connectors if separate cables are available.
So the three connections don’t all need to be 600W cables, and the order doesn’t matter?
