I ordered a Gigabyte Windforce SFF RTX 5070 because it was discounted and saved me about £40. Now I'm wondering whether choosing the small-form-factor version was a mistake, since I've seen people mention higher temperatures. I'm planning to install it in a HYTE X50 case, which should have plenty of airflow. If I have enough room, would it be worth paying extra for something like the ASUS Prime, or should I keep the SFF model?

A compact dual-fan RTX 5070 can still run quite comfortably. Mine stays under roughly 80°C while gaming, the fans stop at idle, and it isn’t especially loud. Just check the card’s exact length, thickness, and power-connector position against your case. Some small cases may need a minor frame adjustment for clearance, but the HYTE X50 should give you much more breathing room.
There’s no inherent problem with an SFF version. Smaller cards can sometimes run a little warmer or louder, but that depends more on the cooler, fan curve, case airflow, and power limit than the SFF label itself. With a well-ventilated case, it should be perfectly fine, and modern GPUs have protections that prevent heat from causing damage.

I’d generally choose the cheapest model that meets your size and warranty requirements. SFF is mainly a size classification, not a guarantee that the card has poor cooling. Several non-SFF models are similar in size, so compare the actual dimensions, cooler design, noise reviews, and price rather than paying extra just for the label. If the Gigabyte fits comfortably and your case has good airflow, there’s little reason to upgrade.
So SFF is mostly describing the physical size and doesn’t automatically mean worse performance or cooling?
