I'm on the hunt for a lightweight Linux distro to install on my old PC that doesn't have the best specs. I'm planning to use it primarily for gaming and web browsing, so it definitely needs to handle a few games like Half-Life 2, Minecraft (both Java and Bedrock versions), and some PSP/PS1 titles. Here are my specs: Intel Celeron J1800 at 2.41 GHz, 8 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB HDD with integrated graphics. Any recommendations?

Honestly, your hardware can run almost any distro, but the games and browser are what will really eat up your resources. I'd say go for any distro that you like, and just keep an eye on resource usage. Xfce is a great lightweight desktop environment, and many people love Linux Mint Xfce for its balance of speed and usability!
You might struggle with that integrated GPU on heavier environments like Gnome or KDE, but Xfce should work well.
You might want to consider getting an SSD for your system, even a small 128GB one can really speed things up. You can find them cheap on eBay. Linux Mint runs great on SSDs too!
I've been thinking about it! I'll grab an SSD for the OS and use my 1TB HDD for games and files.
Lubuntu is a solid choice! It's basically Ubuntu, but tweaked to be lighter on resources. Perfect for your setup!
I'd recommend Mint Xfce or Lubuntu. Just a heads-up, gaming performance may not be ideal with an HDD, especially for more demanding games.
Yeah, it's frustrating to be stuck with this hardware. I'm hoping that I can still manage decent frame rates with Half-Life 2 and Minecraft.
I'll give Fedora's Xfce spin a shot, I've heard good things about it!
