After the recent Apple-related incident involving Telegram, I checked the app on Tuesday night and found that my six-year-old account had been logged out even though I had not logged out myself. When I signed back in using the same phone number I originally registered in 2020, Telegram treated the account as if it were new: my long-standing username was gone, my subscribed news channels had disappeared, and my contact list was missing. Two-factor authentication has not helped restore the original account. In the past, logging out and back in always brought everything back. Has anyone else experienced this, and is it likely to be a temporary session or account-sync problem?

The Apple-related event appears to have involved Telegram being temporarily unavailable through Apple's app distribution system, but that alone would not normally erase an account. There may be a separate authentication or server-side issue affecting some users. Verify the phone number and country code carefully, check whether another SIM or number was used during sign-in, and contact Telegram support through its official in-app or website channels if the account remains empty.
This could be a session wipe, or the app may somehow have signed you into a different account associated with another number. If the same number is definitely being used, though, it sounds like an account-side sync or restoration issue rather than normal logout behavior. The fact that your username, channels, contacts, and other data all disappeared suggests Telegram is seeing a newly created profile.
I opened Telegram after not using it for about a week and everything was still intact, so this does not appear to have affected everyone. It may be limited to certain accounts, devices, or sessions rather than being a universal outage.

That matches what I have seen too—most people seem unaffected, but a smaller number of users reported being logged out or finding their accounts partially reset.
