I bought a brand-new, factory-sealed Kingston FURY Renegade Pro KF556R36RB-16 in Poland for about $115, assuming it was a standard 16GB DDR5-5600 gaming memory module. I later realized that it is actually a 16GB DDR5-5600 CL36 ECC registered DIMM (RDIMM), 1Rx8, with XMP 3.0 support. It probably will not work in my standard AM5 gaming motherboard, since RDIMMs are generally intended for compatible workstation and server platforms rather than ordinary desktop systems. The unusual part is that this exact model seems very difficult to find, while some Polish listings show prices of several thousand dollars, including nearly $2,000 for one module. Those listings may simply reflect poor availability and unrealistic retail pricing, so I doubt it is genuinely worth that much. Should I return it, sell it, or keep it for a future server or workstation build?

You could keep it for a future server build, but buying one random 16GB RDIMM is not especially useful unless you already have compatible hardware or a plan to build one. It is not a safe experiment for a normal AM5 system—at best it will not boot, and the platform may not support it at all.
The practical choices are to return it if the seller allows returns, or sell it and use the money to buy the correct non-registered desktop RAM. RDIMMs have a register or buffer and ECC features that require motherboard and CPU support, so they are not interchangeable with regular unbuffered DDR5. Check your motherboard's official memory compatibility list before even considering installation. Also, treat those several-thousand-dollar listings as asking prices, not proof of the module's real market value. Look at completed sales or comparable server-memory prices when setting your listing.
List it on a large hardware marketplace with the exact model number and clearly state that it is DDR5 ECC RDIMM. Someone building a compatible workstation or server may want it, but price it based on actual sold listings rather than the inflated store pages. If you can still return it without losing money, that is probably the simplest option.
