I'm using an iPhone 11 on iOS 18.7.7. For about four years I didn't use Face ID, and password autofill required me to enter my iPhone passcode. Last week I enabled Face ID and selected the option to use it for autofilling passwords. I later removed Face ID because I no longer wanted to use it, but password autofill now fills passwords without asking for my passcode. How can I restore the previous behavior so autofilling a saved password always requires my iPhone passcode?

Check Settings > Face ID & Passcode and make sure Password AutoFill is enabled under the section that allows apps and features to use the passcode. Also check Settings > General > AutoFill & Passwords and toggle Password AutoFill off and back on. Restarting the phone afterward may force iOS to refresh the authentication setting.
There usually isn’t a separate option to choose “passcode only” for password autofill. iOS normally uses Face ID when it’s available and the device passcode as the fallback. If autofill is filling without any authentication, verify that you’re using Apple’s Password AutoFill rather than a browser or third-party password manager, then disable and re-enable the relevant autofill provider in Settings > General > AutoFill & Passwords. If it still happens, restart the iPhone and install any available iOS update.
I had already removed Face ID, so Face ID authentication is definitely off. I’m mainly trying to find the setting that makes autofill fall back to the passcode.
