What’s the best way to fix unreliable Bluetooth for wireless controllers?

I'm using a desktop PC connected to my TV, and my wireless controllers have started disconnecting randomly. I'm considering replacing the computer's Bluetooth with a USB dongle, but I'm not sure what to look for. My budget is under $50, and I mainly need reliable controller connections. I may also need a USB extension cable depending on the solution.

Before replacing anything, check whether the PC’s Bluetooth antenna is connected properly and try moving the adapter away from the metal case with a short USB extension. Bluetooth can become unreliable when the signal is blocked by the desktop chassis or the PC is far from the TV. A decent USB Bluetooth adapter placed in an open position should fit your budget.

If you want to avoid Bluetooth entirely, look for controllers that use a dedicated 2.4 GHz USB receiver. They usually provide a more stable connection for TV gaming than Bluetooth, especially when the PC is tucked away or surrounded by metal. A longer USB extension can help position the receiver where it has a clear line of sight to the controller.
