Is 51°C Idle Temperature Normal for a Ryzen 7 9800X3D?

My Ryzen 7 9800X3D idles around 51°C. I'm using a Noctua NH-U12A air cooler with Duronaut thermal paste, and I've reapplied the paste twice without any noticeable change. My case has three front intake fans and one rear exhaust fan, and the room temperature is about 21°C. Under load, the CPU reaches roughly 62°C in Wuthering Waves at ultra settings and 66°C in Resident Evil 4 Remake at ultra settings on a 1440p display. Are these temperatures normal?

That idle temperature is well within the expected range. Some systems sit in the mid-to-high 50s at idle even with capable air coolers, especially in warmer rooms. At around 62–66°C while gaming, your temperatures are excellent.

Yes, those temperatures are completely normal for a Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Idle temperatures can vary depending on background processes, fan curves, and how the motherboard handles voltage. Your gaming temperatures are especially good and suggest the cooler and case airflow are working well.

Thanks, that’s reassuring. I was mainly worried because the idle temperature seemed high despite the cool room and air cooler.
