I'm putting together a quiet, high-airflow PC primarily for recording, mixing, and other audio work. I'm prioritizing CPU performance and practical cooling over RGB or a tempered-glass showcase, and I want to avoid compatibility surprises because I haven't built a system in more than a decade. I may also dual-boot Linux and try Linux Studio, so I chose an AMD platform. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D seems more than I need for audio, but it should also provide strong gaming performance if I start gaming on this machine. I already have a usable graphics card and plan to upgrade it later rather than buying a high-end card now.
The build uses an Arctic Liquid Freezer III, the case's included fans, DDR5 memory, an NVMe SSD, and a power supply selected partly for future upgrades. My main concerns are whether all the components will physically fit, including the cooler, graphics card, RAM, and SSD; how the radiator and included case fans should be positioned; whether there are any compatibility or component-selection red flags; whether I need extra cables or accessories; and whether there are better-value alternatives. I'm in the United States, and the listed prices are roughly what I expect to pay.

Before judging the value, it would help to see the exact component list and the prices you’re paying. The build may be spending more than necessary in places, especially if the graphics card is temporary and the power supply is being oversized mainly for future-proofing. A quality 750W unit may be enough depending on the eventual GPU, but check the recommended power and connector requirements for the card you might buy later. Also compare the 9800X3D with a less gaming-focused Ryzen model: the X3D chip is excellent for games, but its extra cost usually provides little benefit in recording or mixing.
For audio production, the CPU choice isn’t automatically wrong, but the X3D cache is mainly a gaming advantage rather than an audio-production advantage. Recording, mixing, and plugin workloads often benefit more from strong sustained CPU performance, low latency, and adequate memory than from gaming-specific cache. If gaming is genuinely part of the plan, keeping the 9800X3D is reasonable; otherwise, a less expensive Ryzen option could give you similar audio results and leave more budget for storage, quieter cooling, or the future graphics-card upgrade. For physical fit, verify the case’s supported radiator size and front-radiator thickness, GPU clearance with the radiator installed, motherboard socket support, and the power supply length. Standard-height RAM and an M.2 SSD normally do not create case-clearance problems, though tall RAM can matter if the radiator or its fans overlap the motherboard’s DIMM area.
The system will be used for recording and mixing, but I’m also planning to game on it eventually. I understand the X3D benefit may be negligible for audio, so I’m weighing that against choosing a cheaper Ryzen chip.

I’m in the US, and I’m open to cutting costs where it won’t hurt the audio workflow. I was already considering a lower-wattage power supply, but I chose the 9800X3D because I may dual-boot Linux and also want good gaming performance later.
