Hey everyone! I want to share a little backstory. My younger brother has faced numerous challenges, including going in and out of rehab, but he just celebrated one year of sobriety! I'm incredibly proud of him. One of my fondest memories is how he used to build and enjoy gaming on computers. I still have his old gaming PC from years ago, and to my surprise, it still boots up perfectly! I'm hoping to rekindle his passion for computer building and gaming.
Here are the specs of the computer I'm working with:
- **Motherboard:** Asus z87-pro LGA 1150
- **RAM:** 2 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance
- **Processor:** Intel Core i7-4770k 4th Gen Quad-core
- **Graphics Card:** EVGA GeForce 770 4GB
- **SSD:** OCZ Agility 3 240GB
- **Power Supply:** KINGWIN Mach 1 1000W
Can anyone suggest what parts I should replace to make this build suitable for current games? Also, any budget-friendly recommendations for upgrades would be fantastic!

Honestly, with these parts being over a decade old, it might be time to replace almost everything. The i7-4770k was great back in the day, but it can't keep up with today's games. I would recommend checking out /r/buildmeapc for budget options and get a fresh build designed from the ground up.
Also, you might be able to sell some of the old parts on eBay for around $200 if you're lucky, which could help fund the new build! Just remember, selling the entire machine at once could be more hassle than it’s worth. They typically don’t sell well since shipping could be a pain.
Thanks for the helpful insights! I'll definitely check out that subreddit for a complete build. And good to know I could get some cash from the old parts!
