I'm in the US and want to build a mostly white PC using the HYTE Y70 case. I may add the touch-screen upgrade and Zombie Tech Cathedral kit later, but those would be purchased separately from the PC budget. I'm new to PC building and want the best-performing parts possible for around $1,000, although I could stretch the budget if necessary. The main uses would be gaming—especially heavily modded Minecraft with shaders—and 3D work in programs such as Blender and Substance Painter. I'll probably replace my monitor later, so I'm not sure what resolution, refresh rate, or FPS target I should plan around.

A white color scheme usually costs extra without improving performance. With the Y70 included, $1,000 is closer to an $800–$850 component budget, and adding white parts and extra fans reduces it further. Around $1,200–$1,400 would give you a more comfortable entry-level 1440p or strong 1080p build, potentially with a graphics card such as a 16 GB midrange model. At only $1,000, you’ll probably need to accept 1080p settings, buy some parts used, or choose a cheaper case.
The HYTE Y70 is a great-looking case, but it takes a large portion of a $1,000 budget and doesn’t include all the fans you’ll need. That leaves less money for the graphics card, which matters most for gaming and also helps with many 3D workloads. If performance is the priority, a roughly $50–$100 case would let you build a much faster system. You can always move the parts into the Y70 later.
That makes sense. I mainly like the look of the Y70, but I don’t want the PC itself to be frustratingly slow. What would be a reasonable amount to spend on a case?
For this kind of build, try to put roughly 35–40% of the hardware budget toward the graphics card. A six-core Ryzen 5 processor, 32 GB of memory, a 1 TB NVMe SSD, and a capable midrange GPU would be a sensible starting point for modded Minecraft, Blender, and Substance Painter. I would avoid spending heavily on a premium motherboard or decorative parts before getting at least 32 GB of RAM and a strong GPU. Also budget for case fans, since the Y70 is largely an empty enclosure when it comes to airflow accessories.
For Blender and Substance Painter, 32 GB of RAM and more than 512 GB of storage would be especially useful. Large projects and texture files can fill a small SSD quickly.
I didn’t realize white components could add that much. I may be able to raise the budget to around $1,200 if that would make a noticeable difference.
