Hey everyone! I'm wrapping up my new PC build and I'm torn between getting a 24-inch monitor in either 1440p or 1080p. I've been eyeing a few models: for 1440p, I like the KTC Q24T09, KTC H24T7, and AOC Q24G2A/BK, while for 1080p, I'm considering the AOC Gaming 24G4XE and LG 24GS65F. Here's the thing: I've been using a 1080p monitor at 60hz for the last 7 years, so I'm not sure if I really need to upgrade. My concern is whether my specs (I have a 7800xt) can handle 1440p without overheating, lol. Plus, I value features like low input lag and adaptive sync; I've noticed that budget 1440p monitors sometimes lack these compared to their 1080p counterparts. I also enjoy playing some indie and older games that might run better on 1080p since some can only go up to that resolution. I've heard a lot of recommendations to switch to 1440p, but I'm just unsure. My budget is around £200/$260, and I mainly play games like Total War, Rimworld, Tarkov, and Mount and Blade. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Definitely go for a 1440p monitor! With a 7800xt, you're wasting its potential if you stick to 1080p. Even if you play some games at 1080p, you should still get better refresh rates and a sharper overall experience. Plus, you can always lower the resolution for those indie games if needed.
I agree! And you can often tweak settings in older games to run better at higher resolutions. It's worth investing in a 1440p monitor!
