What are some good alternatives to the RTX 4060 for a first build?

I'm looking for GPU suggestions for my first PC build. I was considering the RTX 4060 OC, but I'm wondering if I really need to stick with NVIDIA. My gaming will mostly involve lighter titles like Minecraft and Valorant. I also plan on doing some light programming and media editing. Should I just go ahead and buy the 4060, or are there better options out there?

The 9070XT or even a 9070 could meet your needs if you're okay with going a bit higher-end. Just keep in mind that those options might be overkill for what you plan to do!

You might want to check out a used RX 5700XT for around $120. It's only about 10-15% slower than the 4060 and would be plenty for your usage. If you prefer new, the RX 6600 goes for about $199. It's slightly slower than the 5700XT but should work perfectly for you! Also, consider other options like Arc B580, RX 7600, or RTX 3060.

First off, set a price limit for your GPU. There are plenty of good options if you look for the best within your budget. Why focus only on one GPU? If you're looking for something powerful, the 5090 is the only one worth that kind of attention!

Check out the RX 6700 or its XT version. They should be cheaper and may offer better performance!

I picked up an Asus TUF triple fan 3070 for just 280 CAD (about 195 USD back then). It's faster than the 4060! If you're okay with buying used and know how to test parts, you can get a much better performance for a lower price.
