The battery in my Acer Aspire 5 15 started leaking, so I removed it completely. Can I continue using the laptop with only the AC adapter, and could running it this way cause problems over time? I also want to know how I should handle the damaged battery safely.

The laptop should work normally from the AC adapter alone, as long as the battery leak hasn’t damaged any internal components. Since a leaking battery can release hazardous fumes and potentially catch fire, don’t keep it casually stored indoors. Avoid touching the leaked material, place the battery somewhere safe and isolated if you must move it, and take it to a battery-recycling or hazardous-waste facility as soon as possible.
Using the laptop without a battery means you lose the battery’s backup function. A brief power interruption can shut the computer off immediately and may cause lost work or file corruption, so save often and consider using a properly rated surge protector or UPS. The laptop itself shouldn’t be harmed simply because it is running on AC power only.
