I recently launched a SaaS product that analyzes LinkedIn data. It tracks post performance, recommends suitable posting times, highlights trending posts for better hashtag research based on location and industry, and generates downloadable reports. The tool uses official LinkedIn APIs.
The site is getting roughly 350 visitors per day, but most of them aren't from the audience I'm trying to reach. A friend suggested cold emailing potential customers, though I rarely open those kinds of messages myself. Is cold outreach really the best way to find the right users, or are there better ways to reach a specific market? I'm also wondering whether the time spent building the product was wasted if customer acquisition is this difficult.

Sales and distribution are often harder for developers than building the product itself, so experimenting with outreach doesn’t mean the product was a waste of time. Try several channels instead of relying only on email: publish useful analysis, share examples of the reports, partner with people who help your target audience, and talk directly with potential users to learn what they actually need.
There’s a non-sleazy way to do it, but relevance is everything. A message referencing someone’s recent post, role, or specific problem is much more likely to get attention than a generic product pitch. You’ll still get ignored sometimes, but that’s normal in sales.
