Will DDR5-7200 RAM Be Stable at 6000 MT/s on a Ryzen 5 9600X?

I bought a 32GB (2x16GB) T-Force Delta DDR5-7200 kit for an MSI X870E motherboard with a Ryzen 5 9600X. I know this memory speed may be ambitious for the CPU's memory controller, so I'm considering running the RAM at 6000 MT/s instead and possibly tuning or overclocking the CPU. Is this combination likely to work reliably, and would returning the kit be a better choice? I'm also using an RTX 5070 Ti.

That setup can work. Some systems run high-speed kits without trouble, but the best performance on Ryzen often comes from keeping the memory controller and fabric configuration in a balanced mode. DDR5-6000 is usually the easy, reliable choice, while 6200–6400 may work if the particular CPU’s memory controller is good. You can load the XMP profile and manually reduce the speed, or set the timings and voltage from the profile while running at 6000. CPU overclocking isn’t necessary just to make the RAM work, and memory stability still depends on the individual chip and board.

The 9600X is officially rated for lower memory speeds, and DDR5-7200 isn’t guaranteed on every chip or motherboard. That said, the kit doesn’t have to run at its advertised maximum. Setting it to around 6000–6400 MT/s is generally a much more sensible target on AM5, and the real-world gaming difference from 5600 to 7200 is usually small. I’d try the kit at 6000 first rather than automatically returning it. Update the BIOS, enable the memory profile if needed, and test it with a proper memory stability tool.
