I upgraded my graphics card from a GTX 1060 to a 3060 Ti Gaming OC. After using DDU, the computer boots normally and the display works when connected directly to the new GPU. However, the system crashes roughly a quarter of the way through the NVIDIA driver installation, then reboots with graphical artifacts and severe lag. I have already updated the motherboard BIOS and tried multiple driver versions using clean installation, both manually and through the NVIDIA app. My system has a B550M DS3H motherboard, Ryzen 5 5600G, 32GB of DDR4-3600 memory, and a 750W Be Quiet! System Power 10 Bronze PSU.

Since the crash happens during the driver installation, it may be worth testing an older, known-stable NVIDIA driver rather than only the newest release. A clean installation after removing the existing driver can sometimes avoid conflicts.
I tried both the latest driver from July and an older version from January, and they failed in the same way. The problem also occurred whether I installed manually or through the NVIDIA app.
