My Windows 11 PC has suddenly started drawing outlines around apps and items inside apps or web browsers, almost as if everything is being selected or highlighted. The behavior continues in Microsoft Edge, Discord, and other parts of Windows. I have unplugged and reconnected the computer, mouse, and keyboard, uninstalled the device drivers, and restarted the PC, but nothing has helped. I also scanned for malware with Windows Defender and it found nothing. The issue began this morning even though everything worked normally yesterday. What could be causing this, and how can I fix it?

Check Windows accessibility settings, since options such as keyboard navigation, Filter Keys, Sticky Keys, or other focus-related features may have been enabled accidentally. Open Settings, go to Accessibility, and review the Keyboard, Mouse, and Visual effects sections. Turning off anything unfamiliar may restore normal behavior.
Try disconnecting both the keyboard and mouse completely, then test the computer using only the touchscreen or another input method if available. A stuck key—especially Tab, Ctrl, Alt, or an arrow key—or a faulty mouse can cause focus boxes and selection behavior across different programs.
I unplugged both the keyboard and mouse, but the outlining still happens. It only started this morning, and the PC was working normally yesterday.
