Have RAM and AI demand pushed up used GPU prices?

I haven't bought a graphics card in a while and I'm wondering what the used market looks like now. Can I still find a reasonably priced mid-range GPU on eBay, or have RAM shortages and higher new-card prices caused sellers to raise their prices too?

The 8GB and 12GB segments are generally still more reasonable because there’s more supply and fewer buyers competing for them. For example, a used RTX 3070 or RTX 3080 can still be a decent value depending on the local market, though power consumption and the lack of newer features are worth considering.

It really depends on the card and your area. High-memory models can be wildly overpriced, while some 8GB cards are cheap because buyers are less interested in them. Checking completed listings rather than just active asking prices is probably the best way to judge whether a specific GPU is actually selling at a normal price.

Higher new-card prices usually filter into the used market with a delay. Someone replacing an older GPU may ask more for it because their upgrade costs more, and buyers who can’t afford new hardware increase demand for used cards. That makes two-generation-old GPUs the new entry-level option in some places, but good deals are still possible if you compare listings and don’t need features like frame generation.

Used prices have gone up, but the biggest increases are concentrated in cards with lots of VRAM. GPUs with 16GB have seen some upward pressure, while 20GB-and-up models—especially cards like the RTX 3090 and 3090 Ti—have become much more expensive because people are buying them for local AI workloads. Older high-VRAM cards that are too slow for that use haven’t risen as much.
