I'm planning to upgrade from an RTX 3070 Ti. I was initially considering the RTX 5070 Ti, but I found an RTX 4070 Ti Super for about $250 less, and it seems to be only around 10% slower in the comparisons I've seen. Is the extra money for the 5070 Ti worthwhile? Does the newer generation offer meaningful advantages beyond raw performance, such as better frame generation, efficiency, features, or longer support?

I wouldn’t choose the 4070 Ti Super solely because it is cheaper without checking whether it is new or used. A used card may have less warranty coverage, which partly reduces its value. Still, if the 4070 Ti Super is in good condition and costs $250 less, it is probably the smarter Nvidia purchase unless you specifically need the 5070 Ti’s multi-frame generation or expect to keep it through several future feature updates.
At current prices, the RTX 5070 Ti seems difficult to justify. It is a meaningful performance upgrade, but the Radeon RX 9070 XT is usually a little slower while costing considerably less. The 5070 Ti makes more sense if you specifically need CUDA, stronger ray tracing, or Nvidia’s feature set. Otherwise, the 9070 XT may offer the best gaming performance per dollar. You should also consider selling the 3070 Ti to reduce the upgrade cost.
The 5070 Ti offers roughly a 15–20% raw performance improvement over comparable 40-series cards, along with newer multi-frame-generation features. The 4070 Ti Super still has very similar power efficiency and supports standard DLSS frame generation, though it lacks some of the newer 50-series features. If you plan to keep the card for several years, the newer model may have a longer feature-support window, but the price difference is still hard to overlook.
For gaming, I’d seriously consider the RX 9070 XT. It has 16GB of VRAM, performs close to the 5070 Ti in many games, and is substantially cheaper. Its ray tracing performance is much stronger than the 3070 Ti’s, and newer upscaling and frame-generation features can work well in supported games. The 5070 Ti is mainly worth the premium if you rely on CUDA, play heavily ray-traced or path-traced games, or strongly prefer Nvidia’s software ecosystem.

I’m mainly interested in Nvidia because I prefer DLSS and have heard AMD drivers can still be inconsistent. However, the benchmarks I’ve seen show only about a 15 FPS improvement at 1440p, so I’m not sure an extra $250 is worthwhile.
