Another budget-conscious option is a newer Intel processor on a DDR4-compatible board, such as a 14600KF or 14700, which lets you keep your existing memory. Still, if you can afford new DDR5 and a bundle from Micro Center, AM5 is the more compelling long-term choice. Waiting is also reasonable if you’re not in a hurry, since newer processors are on the way.

Check out the 7500X3D bundle if it’s available around $400. The 7800X3D bundle is also worth considering if the price is reasonable. You’d need DDR5, but with a 9070 XT, either option should be a solid gaming upgrade and leave you room to upgrade the CPU later.

If keeping costs down is the priority, an AM4 setup with a good X570 board and a 5800X3D would still perform very well with that GPU. It’s a practical way to reuse your 32GB of DDR4, but you’re buying into a platform with little meaningful upgrade potential. I’d only choose this route if the total price is substantially lower than an AM5 bundle.

Since you’re starting from an Intel platform anyway, AM5 is probably the better move. The 5800X3D is still a strong gaming CPU, but it makes the most sense for people who already own an AM4 board and DDR4. A Micro Center AM5 bundle should give you a newer platform with a much better upgrade path, and you can sell your current CPU, motherboard, and memory to offset the cost.
