I'm looking for endpoint detection and response software for my own desktop and laptop. I considered CrowdStrike Falcon Pro, but it appears to be available only to business customers. Malwarebytes ThreatDown seems to be one of the few EDR products individuals can purchase. Is it worthwhile for personal use, and are there settings to reduce its CPU and RAM usage? I'd also appreciate recommendations for powerful antivirus products that include some EDR-style features.

Take a look at Elastic Defend through the Elastic Agent. It can provide endpoint monitoring and detection features and has a free option, though it’s more involved to set up than a typical consumer antivirus. For a personal machine, make sure you understand which components you’re enabling and monitor resource usage after installation.
It’s not as straightforward as ThreatDown: you generally install the Elastic Agent, connect it to an Elastic deployment, and configure the security features there. It’s a better fit if you’re comfortable managing a more technical security tool; otherwise, a reputable consumer antivirus with behavior monitoring may be simpler and sufficient.
