I'm trying to decide between a Ryzen 7 5700X3D-based system and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D paired with an RTX 5070. My goal is to play AAA games at 2560×1440 with maximum settings, along with Counter-Strike 2 at 1920×1440 in a 4:3 aspect ratio. I'm also using an ASUS 27-inch 280 Hz QD-OLED monitor. Which option makes more sense for gaming, and would saving money on the CPU allow me to get a stronger graphics card instead?

Your target refresh rate matters. A 280 Hz monitor is useful for competitive games, but you probably won’t reach 280 FPS in every AAA title at maximum settings. For Counter-Strike 2, prioritize the CPU and consistent frame times, while for 1440p AAA gaming the GPU will usually be the bigger limit. Also, maxing every setting in CS2 isn’t necessary for competitive play.
