I recently built a PC with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon 9070 XT, 2 TB Patriot P400 Lite M.2 SSD, Gigabyte X870 Gaming WiFi6 motherboard, Arctic Liquid Freezer 3 Pro A-RGB cooler, 32 GB Corsair Vengeance memory, MSI MAG A750GL power supply, and an Antec Flux case.
The system initially posted successfully outside the case, and I was able to enter BIOS once. The motherboard detected the graphics card at PCIe 5.0 x16. After installing everything in the case, it began stopping during POST with the VGA debug LED lit. It shows the X3D Turbo Mode prompt and then the AMI screen, but pressing Delete or F2 does not reliably open BIOS. On one attempt it displayed a setup message and froze.
I also tried connecting the monitor to the motherboard's HDMI output, disconnecting the Windows installation flash drive, checking the keyboard and mouse, reseating the graphics card, waiting at the screen, and pressing Delete or F2 at different times. Clearing CMOS did not resolve the issue. The VGA LED sometimes changes to the boot LED, but most attempts stop at VGA.
The problem started after I powered the system down to connect the case-fan cables, even though it had posted and entered BIOS before that. What should I check next to determine why it is no longer consistently reaching BIOS?

Clearing CMOS is worth trying for this kind of problem because it resets memory and PCIe settings, especially after enabling or changing X3D-related options. Since you’ve already cleared it and the VGA LED still returns, the next useful step is testing one RAM module at a time and carefully reseating the graphics card and its power connections.
Try reducing the system to a basic configuration with only one RAM stick installed. Test each stick individually, and try the recommended single-stick slot from the motherboard manual. A memory-training or seating issue can sometimes prevent POST even when the system worked previously.
