I'm currently using an RX 6600 and want a meaningful upgrade for smoother 1440p gaming and better visual quality. Most of the options I'm finding cost $500 or more, but my budget is around $400 right now. What graphics cards should I consider that offer a worthwhile improvement without being disappointing or stretching my budget too far?

A used RTX 3080 is often available around $280–$320 and is generally faster than an RTX 5060 Ti or RX 9060 XT in traditional rendering. It also supports newer upscaling features, but the 10GB of VRAM can become limiting in some demanding 1440p games. If you want more memory, cards such as the RX 6800 XT or RX 7800 XT are worth checking, though they may cost more.

The RX 9060 XT 16GB can sometimes be found around $450–$470, and it is a reasonable 1440p upgrade. Check your power supply first, though—having at least a decent 500W unit can help you avoid an extra upgrade cost. Used cards may also bring the price closer to your budget.

I’ll definitely look into the RX 9060 XT and RX 9070 options. Thanks!

You may have better luck buying used. New GPU prices can turn into a moving target, so waiting for the perfect $400 option might just mean needing to save more later. A used card in good condition could offer much better performance for the money.

Below $400, a new Intel B580 may not be a dramatic improvement over your RX 6600. The more compelling choices are finding a used RTX 3080 or increasing the budget slightly for an RX 9060 XT.
