About eight months ago, I installed an RTX 5070 Ti in my older NZXT H500. During demanding games, I've noticed that the tempered-glass side panel becomes extremely hot to the touch. My previous GPU was an RTX 2080, and when I upgraded from a Ryzen 5 2600X to a Ryzen 7 5700X3D, I also added a 240 mm Arctic Liquid Freezer III mounted at the front as an intake. I chose that setup to give the radiator cool outside air for better CPU temperatures, but I'm now wondering how much the heated radiator exhaust is affecting the GPU. With replacement hardware becoming expensive and difficult to find, I'm hesitant to change cases unless it would make a meaningful difference. Would a newer, better-ventilated case be worthwhile, or should I simply add fans and monitor temperatures? My system has a Ryzen 7 5700X3D, RTX 5070 Ti, 64GB of DDR4-3600 memory, an MSI B450 Carbon Pro AC Max WiFi motherboard, the NZXT H500, and the front-mounted 240 mm AIO.

A case is one of the safer components to replace because it usually isn’t affected by the same supply issues as GPUs and CPUs, and airflow-focused models are often reasonably priced. Before buying one, check your actual CPU temperature, GPU core temperature, hotspot temperature, and fan speeds with an overlay while gaming. The hot glass suggests the case is holding a lot of heat, but the temperatures matter more than how warm the panel feels. You could also try adding or upgrading exhaust fans first, especially a rear exhaust, and make sure the front intake fans and radiator aren’t restricted by dust or the front panel. If the GPU temperatures are consistently high, moving to a more open, mesh-front case would be a sensible upgrade.

My main concern is that if something breaks after moving everything, finding a replacement part seems difficult right now. I’m not sure the airflow improvement is worth taking that risk.
