My Logitech K400+ keyboard stopped working after I upgraded my PC to Windows 11 a few years ago. The computer does not recognize the Unifying receiver and shows "Unknown USB Device (Descriptor Request Failed)" in Device Manager. I tried the receiver again today and it worked for about five minutes before failing once more. Logitech's software cannot detect it either. The keyboard has fresh batteries, and everything inside appears to be fine. I have tested the setup on five different computers and seen the same problem. Could a driver or Windows update have damaged the receiver, or is it simply defective? The keyboard was only about six months old when this started, so I'm also wondering whether it might still be covered by the two-year warranty despite not having the receipt.

The receiver itself is probably failing. Testing it on another computer is a good way to confirm that, and since the same issue happens on several PCs, the keyboard or Windows installation is unlikely to be the cause. A receiver that works briefly and then disappears can have an intermittent hardware fault, although a USB port or power issue is also worth ruling out. If you bought it in Europe, consumer goods generally have a two-year legal guarantee, so it may be worth contacting the retailer or Logitech even without the original receipt. Proof of purchase might be recoverable through an order history or bank statement.

I’ve already seen the same behavior on five different computers. It’s just strange that the receiver worked for a few minutes before Windows installed or updated drivers, then stopped again. That makes me wonder whether the driver triggered the failure, but the receiver may simply have been dying already.
