I can buy an RX 9070 GRE for about €475 after discounts, while an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB would cost around €550. I'm upgrading from an RTX 3070 and mainly want to play at 1440p. Which card offers the better value and performance? I'm also wondering whether the GRE's VRAM difference could become a problem over the next few years. The regular RX 9070 and RTX 5070 are outside my roughly €500 budget.

The RTX 5060 Ti may be more efficient and comes with Nvidia’s feature set, but the RX 9070 GRE is faster in conventional rasterized gaming. Extra VRAM can help with demanding textures and future games, so compare the exact memory capacities and expected settings before buying. Within a €500 limit, though, the GRE appears to offer the better performance upgrade from an RTX 3070.
The RX 9060 XT 16GB is the more direct competitor to the RTX 5060 Ti, so it’s worth checking its local price as well. The 9070 GRE is a step above both, though its VRAM capacity should be considered. If the GRE is still cheaper than the 5060 Ti and the 9060 XT, it’s probably the strongest value option in this group.
At €475, the RX 9070 GRE looks like a fair deal and it should be noticeably faster than the RTX 5060 Ti in regular gaming. Unless you specifically need Nvidia features or better efficiency, the GRE gives you more performance for the money.
That was my thinking too, especially since I can get it below the 5060 Ti. I’m mainly unsure whether the lower VRAM could hurt its usefulness later on.
The 9060 XT 16GB is around €430 here, but its performance seems close to my RTX 3070, with the two cards trading blows. The standard RX 9070 and RTX 5070 are closer to €600 or more, which is beyond my budget.
