I managed to buy an RTX 5080 before prices increased, but I can't currently afford to move from AM4 to AM5, especially with the added cost of new memory. I'd prefer to keep my existing 64GB of DDR4 and Ryzen 7 5800X for now. I know the processor may bottleneck the graphics card in some situations, but my main workloads are Blender, Unreal Engine, and video editing, with some 4K gaming on the side. Will the 5800X struggle significantly, or should the RTX 5080 carry things well enough that I can wait a year or two before upgrading the motherboard and CPU?

If you eventually need more productivity performance while retaining DDR4, a 14600 or 14700 with a compatible DDR4 motherboard could be an option. They can be stronger in heavily threaded work, though they generally use more power and produce more heat. Since you already own an AM4 system, waiting until an upgrade makes financial sense is reasonable.
For Blender, Unreal, and editing, extra CPU cores could eventually help, but the 5800X is not obsolete. If those workloads become too slow, you could consider a later upgrade rather than replacing the whole platform immediately. A 5700X3D or 5800X3D could also be worth considering for gaming while keeping your current AM4 board and DDR4, assuming your motherboard supports it.
The 5800X is still a capable processor, and there’s no need to upgrade before you actually see a problem. Try the system as-is and watch for poor frame times, stuttering, or unexpectedly low GPU usage. At 1440p, the CPU limitation would show up in more games, but 4K generally reduces the impact.
At 4K, the 5800X should be perfectly usable with the 5080 in most games, especially demanding AAA and action titles where the GPU is doing most of the work. You may see limits in strategy, simulation, and other CPU-heavy games with lots of units or entities, but it shouldn’t be a major problem overall.

That makes sense. I’ll run the 5800X and 5080 together first and only start planning a platform upgrade if I see consistent stuttering or the CPU limiting my workloads.
