What PC specs are enough for 300–400+ FPS in CS2?

I'm planning to build or buy a PC mainly for Counter-Strike 2 and want consistently high FPS with stable frametimes, not merely the minimum required to launch the game. My target is roughly 300–400+ FPS at competitive settings, potentially using 1280×960 resolution, and I'd like the system to remain capable for the next few years. I'm also considering a 300Hz or 320Hz monitor. Which CPU, GPU, RAM, and other components would you recommend, and how important is the CPU compared with the GPU in CS2? I'm located in Pakistan, so local pricing and availability matter and common US-only bundle deals may not be practical.

At 1280×960 and competitive settings, CS2 will usually be more CPU-limited than GPU-limited. A modern Ryzen 7 such as a 7700X or an X3D gaming chip paired with a midrange graphics card—roughly an RTX 5060-class card, RX 7600, or similar—should be plenty. Use at least 16GB of RAM, although 32GB is the better long-term choice. Keep in mind that FPS above your monitor’s refresh rate has diminishing practical returns, so a well-tuned, stable 300 FPS matters more than chasing an enormous average.

A Ryzen 5 7500F or another modern six-core CPU combined with an RTX 5060 or RX 9060 XT should already handle CS2 very well at 1280×960. If your budget allows, moving to an X3D CPU is more likely to improve the lows and frametime consistency than buying a much faster GPU. A high-end graphics card would be unnecessary for this resolution unless you also plan to play more demanding games at higher resolutions.

For a stronger competitive-focused build, a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 9800X3D, or comparable current X3D processor would provide excellent CS2 frametimes. Pair it with a midrange GPU such as an RTX 5060 or RX 9060 XT; at this resolution, spending much more on the graphics card is unlikely to improve CS2 performance proportionally. Aim for 32GB of DDR5, ideally around 6000 MT/s with reasonable timings, and use two matched modules.
