Every time I try to download .exe files on my new Windows 11 computer using Microsoft Edge, I get an error message saying "Couldn't Download - Needs authorization." Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can resolve it?

You could also consider running a quick internet search for your error message. It can sometimes lead you to specific solutions tailored for this issue.
I've heard that the permissions in your Downloads folder might affect this. Try checking the security settings for that folder and see if your current account has the right permissions, especially since it's a fresh install.
It sounds like Windows 11 is blocking the download because it sees the .exe files as potentially untrusted. You might want to check if you're logged in as an admin or if your computer is in "S mode," which limits app installations.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll look into that to see if there's a detailed fix.
