I have a Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16IRX10 (83NN) with an i9-14900HX, RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, 32 GB of RAM, and the original power adapter. A few months ago, it began powering off instantly during heavily modded Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. There was no blue screen or warning, and it happened roughly four or five times, including once with the unmodded game. Event Viewer only showed Kernel-Power 41 and Event 6008. Lenovo's UEFI diagnostics reported no problems, and Spider-Man 2 did not trigger the shutdowns.
I later discovered that the battery had failed: Windows continued reporting around 70–75% charge, but disconnecting the adapter caused the laptop to turn off immediately, and it would not start on battery power. What is the most likely explanation for the earlier shutdowns—could the failed battery have caused them, or are the adapter, motherboard, or power circuitry more likely? Why would Bannerlord trigger the problem when Spider-Man 2 did not, and is it reasonably safe to try the game again after replacing the battery?

There is not enough evidence here to identify the exact failed component. Kernel-Power 41 and Event 6008 only confirm that Windows lost power unexpectedly; they do not distinguish between a battery fault, adapter issue, overheating, motherboard power circuitry, or a firmware-level protection shutdown. The failed battery is certainly suspicious, but it does not prove that it caused the earlier AC-powered shutdowns. Since there was no blue screen, a memory dump may not exist, though checking the Windows crash and hardware logs could still help. After replacing the battery, test the laptop while monitoring CPU/GPU temperatures, clocks, and power behavior, and stop using it if it shuts off again. If the problem returns, have Lenovo inspect the adapter, charging system, and motherboard rather than assuming the game is at fault.
