I recently put together a PC with an Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, and an RTX 5090. I know the graphics card is powerful, but I'm wondering whether the rest of the system will let it perform well for gaming and other demanding tasks.

Two gigabytes of RAM is the biggest immediate problem. Even basic modern operating systems use a large portion of that, leaving very little for games or applications. Aim for at least 16GB of RAM, along with a current desktop CPU and an SSD.
