Why Isn’t My Second SSD Showing Up on My New PC?

I recently built a new PC and installed two SSDs, but I'm only able to see one of them. When I check my PC, there's only one drive labeled "Local Disk (C)". Why can't I find the second SSD?

Have you checked out the Disk Management tool in Windows? If it’s a brand-new drive, it usually won’t show up until you create a volume and assign it a drive letter. Just add it there, and you should be good to go!

I haven’t tried that yet, but I did have both SSDs in the PC when I powered it on for the first time.

Are both of your SSDs brand new? Also, what type of SSDs are they? Sometimes there can be compatibility issues that prevent them from showing up.

They are SSDs, but I'm not really sure what you mean by type.

It sounds like your second SSD might need to be formatted before it appears. Windows sometimes doesn’t recognize brand new drives until they’re set up properly. You can try initializing and formatting it using Disk Management. It’s pretty straightforward!

How would I go about formatting it?
