My microphone was working normally a few days ago, but it suddenly stopped picking up sound overnight. The microphone and splitter work correctly when tested with my phone. On Windows 11, the microphone is detected, permissions are enabled, the input volume is set to 100%, and I've reinstalled the audio drivers. I also tested the motherboard's audio ports directly, but nothing changed. The mic briefly worked twice for a few seconds, although the audio cut in and out before stopping completely. What could cause Windows to detect the microphone while receiving no usable audio?

Since Windows recognizes the microphone and privacy access is enabled, check the input device’s properties under Settings > System > Sound > Input. Make sure the correct microphone is selected, disable any audio enhancements, and check the input level in the classic Sound Control Panel as well. The brief periods of cutting in and out could also point to a failing cable, splitter, jack, or loose connection, even if it works intermittently on another device.

I confirmed that desktop microphone access is allowed, and Windows does detect the mic. I’ll check the device properties and enhancements next, since the intermittent signal could mean the connection or splitter is failing.
